Motorcycling New Zealand (MNZ) is excited to confirm the support of two leading motorcycle manufacturers, Suzuki New Zealand and Yamaha New Zealand, as Associate Partners for the 2019 New Zealand Superbike Championship (NZSBK).
MNZ General Manager Virginia Henderson says it’s great to see the manufacturers coming back to support NZSBK, the pinnacle of road racing in this country. “There is now a clear pathway through the road racing discipline, from entry level to top level racing. With the growing interest in motorcycling generally, as well as in our sport, the NZSBK series provides a great opportunity for manufacturers to showcase their machines, brands and talent.”
Following the success of the inaugural Suzuki GIXXER Cup last racing season, the class will again feature in the 3-round 2018 Suzuki Series and the 5-round 2019 NZSBK series. Designed as an entry into road racing for younger riders, Suzuki New Zealand is enabling aspiring racers to get into the sport, with well-priced machines and race gear packages. The tagline “growing future champions” encapsulates the aim of class, which could well be the breeding ground for New Zealand’s next national and international motorcycling stars. Simon Meade, General Manager Motorcycle/ATV Marketing says “Suzuki have been a strong supporter of road racing for more than two decades. Our commitment to the national series is set to continue for 2019 and we are looking forward to watching some new champions take their skills to the track this summer.”
Yamaha New Zealand have come on board now with the alignment of NZSBK classes to those of ASBK (the Australian Superbike Championship), says Virginia Henderson. “It’s now easier for Australian riders to complete in our championship and for kiwis to compete in ASBK, helping all of them gain experience and become more competitive on the international stage, if that’s where their aspirations lie.”

- ROUND 1: 5-6 January 2019, Mike Pero Motorsport Park, Christchurch
- ROUND 2: 12-13 January 2019, Levels International Raceway, Timaru
- ROUND 3: 2-3 March 2019, Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, Waikato
- ROUND 4: 30-31 March 2019, Circuit Chris Amon, Manfeild
- ROUND 5: 6-7 April 2019, Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, Taupo
