ATTN: North Island Formula 1 & 2 Riders – There’s a Title up for grabs at MotoFEST & MotoMANIA if we can get a few more entries!

We are keen to put a North Island title on the line for Superbike B/Formula One & Supersport 600 B/Formula Two if we can get a few more entries for rounds three and four of the Star Insure Superbike Championship series.

The plan is to award points across the two rounds and the winner will be crowned the “King In the North” at the Taupo prizegiving ceremony.

Trophies, bragging rights and prizes will up for grabs for those looking to finish the 2024/25 season with a bang.

This call to action has just come from promoter Mike Marsden ahead of the final two rounds of the series at Hampton Downs on March 8-9 and Taupo on March 15-16.

“This is an official invite to all bikes that qualify for these classes to come join us. You are all more than welcome. We don’t have the numbers to offer a title right now but if we can get 8-10 riders we’ll make it happen!

“We want to finish this year’s series with a whole lot of noise, colour and big grids,” Marsden says.

“I know there are a lot of these older bikes sitting in sheds and garages and this is an opportunity for riders to get in two bonus weekends of racing at two great tracks.”

Marsden sees riders in these two classes competing for separate North Island titles.

“The new seven round Motorcycle racing landscape – the three round Suzuki Series and the four round NZ Superbike Championship Series – is the perfect number of meetings, and my goal is the make them accessible and meaningful for all competitors.

“Flea (Alan Willacy) and I have discussed how we can work together to keep these events going in the future for riders in New Zealand, and we face a real challenge.

“So we all need to do our bit if Motorcycle racing at the top level if it is to continue in this country.”

Entries close this coming Sunday at 6pm.

Six more entries in each class are required to make this happen, according to Marsden.

“Let’s get these bikes out there and then talk about how we can make them part of next year’s championship show as well.
